KUOW reports Janice Huxford (R) is actively running against the minimum wage in her race in the 44th district.
In a curious coincidence, the anti-worker groups opposing Initiative 1433 to raise the minimum wage and the political funds they back have already invested more than $100,000 in Huxford’s campaign against John Lovick, who told KUOW he supports raising the minimum wage
Huxford was reportedly doing this anti-minimum wage campaigning in Mill Creek, where back in 2013 (latest figures available) the median rent was $1,360 a month. That means you would need a full-time job paying $26.15/hour to afford the rent in Mill Creek, according to standard calculations on rent being affordable at 30% of your gross monthly income.
So you need a job paying $26.15/hour to pay the rent in Mill Creek. And Huxford is trying to run for Legislature on the premise that the minimum wage should be $9.53/hour next year.
Guess she wants us to work 21 hours a day?
